T'ruah is joining with a national coalition of religious and human rights groups in a National Week of Action Against Torture, Guantanamo and the NDAA. Co-sponsoring organizations are listed below.
1PM-2:30PM Capitol Reflecting Pool Washington, DC Featured Speaker: Stephen Xenakis, MD (retired Brigadier General, US Army)
June is Torture Awareness Month and June 26 is the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. Join us to show our elected officials that Americans say “NO!” to torture, Guantanamo, indefinite detention and impunity for human rights violations! We are calling on President Obama and Congress to: uphold the absolute ban on torture and other ill-treatment; closure of Guantanamo; an end to indefinite detention and military commissions; accountability for human rights violations; repeal of Sections 1021 and 1022 of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act and release, with as few redactions as possible, of the Senate Intelligence Committee report on CIA torture.
