Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR) and our coalition partners ask you to join two Facebook initiatives to help beat back the massive government/settler onslaught and violence aimed at eliminating the Palestinian cave communities of the South Hebron Hills.
The right wing NGO, “Regavim,” petitions the Israeli High Court to order the IDF to demolish Palestinian homes at a FASTER PACE, claiming reverse discrimination against settlers. They usually lose, but they still win because the Court supports the IDF demolition policy. Regavim’s latest target is Susiya, and the army isn’t waiting for the Court to hear the case. They have already reissued demolition orders, and three tents were torn down two weeks ago. In court, RHR will challenge the zoning and planning regulations leading to demolitions. We invite you to take a picture outside your home, send it to us, and declare that you stand with Susiya.

In 1999, 700 men, women and children were expelled from their caves in the South Hebron Hills, allegedly to create an army live fire zone. RHR and our partners helped return them home, and have been working ever since against the policy to make life so hard for these people that they leave “Of their own accord.” Now there is a renewed threat to expel the residents of eight of these villages. Partner with RHR to defend these communities yet again.
In other news, RHR is currently recruiting for our human rights yeshivas, and the upcoming olive harvest. Emek College recognized RHR’s Beit Shean public housing center as an “Exceptional Project,” while the RHR initiated Public Housing Coalition and the Knesset caucus we created recently sponsored a Knesset day to unveil needed legislation.
You can sign up for RHR’s Parashat HaShavua weekly newsletter to receive our weekly human rights sermon, along with updates on what RHR is doing on the ground, and to change opinion and policy, on these issues, Bedouin in the Negev, socioeconomic justice, African refugees, East Jerusalem and more. We also encourage you to follow us on Facebook.
